How to Color A Zebra With Alcohol Markers

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

  • Start by gathering your alcohol markers. I’m using Ohuhu markers but you can use what you have on hand. You will also need your zebra coloring page. You can order our book from Amazon or download a printable that you can print at home.
Step 1: Gather Your Materials

Step 2: Choose Your Colors

Decide on the color palette for your zebra. This one has an ombre effect using green and yellow colors. I’m starting off with a very light yellow and ending with a light green.

Step 2: Choose Your Colors

Step 3: Color the head

I’m starting with light yellow-green color. Start coloring the zebra at the top of the head and work your way down with the lightest color you are going to use.

Color the zebra’s whole face and part of the neck with this color.

Step 4: Switch colors

Switch to a different color and go down the neck area to around the hoof with this color. Try to blend it into the first color to create an ombre.

Step 5: Finish The zebra with the darkest color

Step 6: darkening the stripes

Take a dark color like a brown or black and add some shading to the dark lines of the zebra. Be careful with this part because sometimes alcohol markers will spread.

Step 7: Color the hooves

Choose a color for the hooves and color them in. Then take a colorless blender and make some shiny highlights by removing some of the color with it.

Step 8: Color the ears

Color in the ears of the zebra. I chose a pretty pink color for this to contrast with the yellow-green colors.

Step 10: Color the zebra mane

With the same three colors you used on the zebra, color in the mane starting on the far edges and making your way to the body. Choose darker colors as you get closer to the zebra body.

Step 11: Color the grass

Now choose some earthy colors for the grassy parts and color them in. Have some in a lighter color as well as some darker colors for interest.
