tips for coloring These girly printable pages
Start with Alcohol Markers First
When using both alcohol markers and colored pencils, lay down the marker color first. This keeps the ink smooth and helps avoid ruining your pencil tips. Let it dry completely before going over it with pencil.
Use Colored Pencils to Add Shading
Colored pencils are perfect for adding shadows and texture after you’ve filled in a space with markers. Use a light touch and build up slowly. This can really bring your coloring pages to life.
Choose the Right Paper
Try thicker paper if you’re printing these pages yourself. Marker ink can bleed through regular printer paper. Cardstock or marker paper works great. It also helps your pencils grip better for layering.
Blend with a Light Colored Pencil
One of my favorite tricks is to use a light-colored pencil, like a pale pink or cream, to blend other pencil colors together. It softens everything and gives a polished finish. I picked this up while experimenting with a sunflower coloring tutorial.

Keep Your Marker Strokes Going in One Direction
Try to color in even strokes going the same way. It helps avoid streaks and gives a cleaner look. This is especially helpful with big areas like hair or backgrounds.
Some of my favorite coloring supplies
Some favorites are Copic, Ohuhu, or Prismacolor, because they blend smoothly and come in a wide range of shades perfect for skin tones, hair, and bold outlines.

If you’re just starting coloring, Ohuhu sets are a great budget friendly option that still give a professional look. They have many different sets in price points from around $25 and up depending on how large the sets are.
For those who want the top of the line, Copic markers are another brand that I use often.
